Readers Luncheons are held all over the United States, historically in the southern and eastern regions. Several prominent events will be held this year in Alabama, Georgia, West Virginia, South Carolina, Wisconsin, Colorado, Washington, and... returning for another spectacular event...Utah!
Readers Luncheons, no matter where they're held, have a variety of things in common:
A nice luncheon (a meal, of course)
An opportunity hear a wildly popular author speak (Keynote Address) and meet her in person
Often, a second popular author speaks (Welcome Address), and the opportunity to meet her in person, too
Readers are seated with an author who is their hostess, typically one who writes the genre (or sub-genre) the reader particularly enjoys
Readers receive free books, swag, and other goodies, including gifts of appreciation from their table's hostess
Readers have the opportunity to meet, visit with, and connect with many different authors in a comfortable, low-key environment
Book signings--generally following the luncheon--allow readers to purchase paperback books to have the author(s) personalize and autograph
Readers may bring a maximum of 5 (five) personal copies of books they wish to have an author sign
Door prizes or drawings for gift baskets containing treats specially selected for readers
The value of the experience and take-home gifts exceeds the entrance fee
Readers Luncheons Cater to Readers The whole purpose behind the Readers Luncheon is to celebrate readers. You, a reader, are the sole reason we arrange an event like this. Local romance authors gather together for the express purpose of enjoying a few hours in the company of book-lovers, fans of romantic fiction, and avid readers. The event is all about readers...
We, the hosting authors, are present to ensure you feel welcome, included, and enjoy your time with us as an honored guest. You're Queen (or King) for the day. After all, we write fiction for readers. Without readers, we might still write, but we'd definitely miss out on the joy of seeing our creative work enjoyed by others. We write romance to be savored by romance readers. On October 8, 2016, we cherish the opportunity to meet you, a fan of romantic fiction, enjoy your company, and put on a party held in your honor.
